The Peat Product

Is Lindow Peat of any great commercial value?

Despite suggestions from Croghan Peat to the contrary, research conducted on behalf of Saltersley Common Preservation Society indicates that peat quality it is of a low grade and only suitable for limited garden use.

Further teats carried out by a representative of Scotts in 2000 produced similar conclusions.

In the intervening years the quality of the peat has probably dropped further as the bog has dried out.

One might ask why is it still being extracted and driven many miles for processing......?
